The book is meant to fill in some of those gaps relating to Canadian archives and records, and to provide ways to approach family history research in Canada, both for those who live here and for those whose families moved through the country on their way to greener pastures. Its purpose is to start the researching thinking about what records were created, who kept the records, why they were kept, where they should turn up or where they may be lurking, and why some information does or does not survive.
